In this post 9/11 world we have become increasingly paranoid…and photographers are often suspect. When I bring up this topic amongst a group of photographers almost everyone has a first hand story about an encounter with a security guard. I have two. Neither encounter is worth going into in detail. On both occasions I put the camera away and all was cool. The sad thing is that I did in fact give up my right to photograph in a public place. While I don’t recommend creating trouble for yourself it’s not a bad idea to know your rights. Below are some links on the topic.

Now if you do this sort of thing I’d suggest being very careful.
